September 13-14 in Tappahannock, VA

           Thunder Blue Advances to Semi-finals...

In the 2nd tournament of the Fall season, the Thunder won 4 straight to earn a semi-final berth in the Virginia Rowdies Invitational in Tappahannock.  In a defensive battle in the first game against the Northern Neck Rage (13U), the Thunder scored 1 in the 4th that proved to be the difference in the 1-0 game.  In the second game, against the 14U Rage team, the Thunder broke open a 3-0 game with 6 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to cruise to the 9-0 win.  In the final game of pool-play Saturday, after trailing early 4-0, the Thunder put up 13 unanswered runs to beat the 360 Cyclones 13-4.

On Sunday, in bracket play, the Thunder Blue scored 3 in the bottom of the 2nd to go up early against the East Coast Diamonds.  The Blue added 1 run each in the next 2 innings to advance to the semi-finals against the Rampage.  In the semi-final, the Thunder bats mellowed and the Rampage took advantage of a couple of Thunder miscues to put up 4 runs which was enough to advance.

The Thunder went 4-1 in the tournament and outscored opponents 28-9...the team will play 3 more tournaments in the Fall with their next outing October 11-12, 2008...
